The kids have just arrived home from their last day of school and they are going crazy. In a few short minutes, we are about to have the entire block descend on our house as we host an annual “School’s Out” party for the kids.

Keeping kids busy reduces the sibling stunts and trouble that may show up. So plan ahead to do something to keep your child busy for the next 3 months. This is also a wonderful time to remember why you decided to have kids. Go enjoy them.

List are few ideas to do with your kids to make this a great summer!

Go Hiking Just in case the walking around the zoo is not enough activity for you, take the kids hiking. Many of your local forest preserves likely have walking trails that can test your level of fitness on and have hte opportunity to enjoy nature. To this day, one of our family’s favorite vacations was visiting the Smoky Mountains where we spent almost the entire trip hiking the trails within the park. We got great exercise and had fun exploring the unknown.

Ride Bikes To The Ice Cream Shop Getting out with your kids for a bike ride is a lot of fun. Seeing their eyes light up when they realize that the destination is the ice cream shop is priceless. The exercise from riding to and from the ice cream shop is enough to offset the ice cream – well, maybe not but that is what I keep telling myself. Prepare for some great conversations as you sit with your kids on a hot summer afternoon with ice cream dripping down their face.

Perform A Random Act Of Kindness. Doing something nice for someone without expecting anything in return will teach your children a very valuable life lesson. It is shocking to see how many people only think about themselves, which is quickly picked up on by children. Take your kids out to pick up trash in the parks. Take them down to the neighbor who has been working late and cut their lawn. Build a birdhouse and take it to a nearby senior center and share it with someone. Get creative about the activity, just be sure to demonstrate to your kids how rewarding it is to do something nice for someone else.

Parents often do not have the time or energy to keep up with your kid so consider an Summer Youth Camp this summer for your child.

The Kinect looks to be one of the best Christmas gifts for 2010

The Microsoft Xbox Kinect is the newest big release from the team at Xbox 360. It is the advent of controller free games and immersive game play like never before. You don’t need a controller, your body becomes your controller via an avatar. With this new dimension in video gaming, you are taken deeper and deeper into the gaming experience. The way you interact with a game will change the way you look at motion control forever.

The Kinect works via self tracking, through its infrared and blue, red, and green camera. It makes every game title you play that much more enjoyable, and sports a real immersive experience like no other game. If your friends drop over while you are in the middle of a game, no problem, they can simply jump right in without restarting the game. With its 48 point tracking and it’s amazing facial recognition software, the Kinect is further blurring the line between game worlds and the real world.

If you and some friends feel like staying in and watching a movie, you can just say “Netflix” out loud, and the Kinect will load your Netflix right on your Xbox, letting you choose what movie you want with a simple wave of your hand, or just saying the title of the movie you wish to see.

Xbox Kinect biggest serious contender is the already very well established Nintendo Wii. Where Xbox wins over the Wii is that the Wii requires controllers to be used, the Kinect doesn’t. The Kinect offers much more freedom of movement than the Wii as you are not restricted by the limitations of movement of a controller. You actually feel as though you are part the game, as opposed to just being beside it.

The Microsoft Kinect is changing home entertainment in innovative and exciting ways. The best bet is its not just aimed at the gaming crowd, the Kinect suits any member of the family, young or old. It even appeals to people of all ages by getting them off the couch and into the game. This is the kind of thing that people see in action once and then have to have it for themselves.

Allowance for kids is important because it is the only way to truly learn how to manage money as a child. The younger children are started and able to understand the concept, the better. Many times parent will discuss the topic and give some good advice but that is not the same as having to spend your own money.

The average adult learns all about managing money from the age of 18 or older, unless they had a job in high school. If that was parent subsidized then the lesson could not have been fully realized. It is not until mistakes are made and consequences felt that the lesson hits home.

A small child can learn a little about saving money and spending it. They may not immediately get the value but they do know the difference between having it and not having it and what they can buy with it. The amount of allowance they are given can match their age or the amount typically given during a week.

It may not be the best idea to link allowance to chores. Household chores are the responsibility of each family member. There should still be consequences for not doing them. Kids have a tendency to ask how much a chore is worth. They may decide they can not do that particular chore since it is not worth much anyway.

There will need to be an agreement made about what their allowance is spent on. The idea is to minimize what it is they are asking their parents for and to learn to budget what they have. Make sure what they receive is enough to cover their purchases. As direction for managing what they have, go over saving money, spending money and sharing money. Be an example with this concept. They should spend on their agreed upon items, save for those that cost more and sharing through giving.

Lessons of how to manage and budget cash are difficult at any age. Some adults work on it for years and still struggle. Allowance for kids will give children a way to make it all habit and make it more likely for them to do what is necessary automatically.

As a parent, you are the best to answer this question. You know (or should if you don’t) what your child consumes every day. Are they eating proper foods like fruits, vegetables and whole grains or are they mostly eating sugary, greasy, fattening foods? Is there healthy eating for kids at your home?

Because of that, the eating decisions you make greatly affect your child’s health both now and in the future. If you eat only junk food, so will your child. If you enjoy lots of fruits and vegetables, your child will love them also. Eating habits are also carried into adulthood so make sure those habits are good. You must strive for healthy eating for kids, not just adults.

If you want to change your children’s eating habits, there are certain steps you must take. First, stock your refrigerator and pantry with healthy foods. Buy more produce and fewer items from a box. There is less temptation to eat bad foods if they aren’t there!

Next, talk to your kids about the changes you are making. Explain to them how important it is to eat good foods and how they will help their bodies grow strong. Let them know that their opinions are important but that they still need to be healthy. So, with their help, discover fruits and veggies they like.

Finally, if your child is used to bad foods, they may protest the change. If that’s the case, don’t completely change their diets overnight. Give them some of the foods they love, while introducing healthy options too. Gradually, they should be eating more healthy foods and less fattening foods.

If you are committed to changing your child’s life for the better then you will see results. And then you will proudly be able to state that your child’s eating habits are good.

Get a head start on your plans so you don’t miss out!

My most memorable experiences as a kid are from summer camp. I met some of my dearest friends there, was challenged in ways I never thought possible, and strengthened my walk with the Lord. I owe a large part of who I am today to my former camp.

I feel like it is my responsibility as a parent to provide my children with the same amazing camp experience as I did growing up and my kids are finally at the age where this can become a reality. As a first time ‘camp parent’, the following questions were frequently on my mind – (maybe you can relate?)

How can I ensure my children’s safety?

There are so many summer camps out there, how do I even begin to find the “perfect camp” for my kids?

What are the most important things to look for in a summer camp?

Will my kids have fun?

The task of finding a safe, nurturing, and engaging camp seemed overwhelming until I found an article online that drastically helped me in my quest for finding the most amazing summer camp for my children. The article guided me to focus on the qualities to look for in a camp and helped narrow down my search.

I really wanted to share this with all of you in hopes of giving you a little more insight to finding the right camp for your kids without searching through tons and tons of resources. I’ve contacted a few camps and a lot of them are already filling up or are already full. Don’t wait until it’s too late, find a camp today!

There seems to be a lot of pressure as parents when you child hits the age of a preschooler. You are forced to enroll them at learning centers to help them develop skills like their motor skills as well as their social skills.

There seems to be a lot of pressure as parents when you child hits the age of a preschooler. You are forced to enroll them at learning centers to help them develop skills like their motor skills as well as their social skills.

But, what you do not know is that you can help them enhance their skills right inside your home. As parents, you can send them to such classes to develop their motor skills and social abilities. But, by simply letting them play educational games you are now teaching them to be able individuals in the future.

Here are some of the activities you can do with your children and help them learn new skills and enhance those that they already have.

Storytelling enhances your childs listening skills. It also helps them enhance their imagination and creativity. Do not bound yourself to reading them stories from books. Try to tell some stories from your life that you find amusing or simply how you and your partner met in real life.

Dressing up plays a role in your child’s sense of identity. You can have a glimpse of what his aspirations are when he grows up through dressing up. When your child chooses to be a doctor, there will be chances that he wants to become a doctor someday. It keeps them entertained and it also teaches them to be imaginative.

Music is a therapeutic way of letting your child develop motor skills. It allows them to express with actions. It also gives you the opportunity to teach them how to clap, stomp, and clap among others. Plus, you can teach your child some musical instruments at an early age.

You can also teach your children to become resourceful by providing them with recycled materials and let them build stuff from the materials you have provided. From toilet rolls to candy wrappers and boxes, allow your child’s imagination to run freely with your supervision and let them build whatever it is that they want.

Play board games when they are older. Board games are fun when they are played together with the entire family. It gives you time to bond with your children and teach them to take turns and the true meaning of sportsmanship. It will also teach them numerical skills.

Why not? Each year, millions of Americans head out to their local campgrounds. Camping in the great outdoors is any camper’s dream; however, not everyone is able to camp at a campground or state park. If you find it difficult or impossible to go camping, you may want to consider backyard camping. You may very well find that it is the perfect backyard activity, especially in the evening.

Although camping in your backyard may not seem glamorous, it can be a fun and exciting adventure. In fact, it is an adventure that thousands of families enjoy each year. Backyard camping is popular for a wide variety of different reasons. One of those reasons includes the ease of camping. If you are an avid camper, it is likely that you may know alto well how hard to can be to make it to your campsite. Not only do you have to worry about getting yourself to the campsite, but all of your supplies as well. And, imagine if you forgot anything! In most cases, backyard camping cuts down on the hassle of most camping trips.

Backyard camping is also popular because it allows campers to camp is a safe area. Unfortunately most campers, while camping on public grounds, are unfamiliar with their surroundings. Not only may they be unfamiliar with the land, but they may also be unfamiliar with other campers. Unfortunately, in today’s society it is just too much of a risk for some individuals. If physical safety is a concern of yours, that concern can almost completely be eliminated with backyard camping. Not only will you know the area, but you also know who or what should be in your neighborhood.

As previously mentioned, backyard campouts are popular among those with children, especially young children. When it comes to camping, there are many children who are not at the right age to go. Whether it is due to unfamiliar territory, uncomfortable sleeping spaces, or being away from what they know, there are many children that are unable to handle a camping trip. However, as a parent, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be able to enjoy camping. With backyard camping, everything should workout for everybody. Not only will be camping in the outdoors, but you will also be near your home, in case you need anything for your children.

While backyard campouts are ideal for those with small children, campouts are also fun for everyone else. Many individuals, including adults without children, enjoy backyard camping because it is convenient, safe, and free. Most public campgrounds, in the United States, charge a fee for campers. While this fee will vary from location to location, it can get quite expensive. That is why backyard camping is so popular in the United States.

If you are interested in having a backyard campout, you will have to decide which supplies you will need. Depending on your preference, you may be able to sleep in a tent or underneath the stars. In addition to sleeping equipment, you may want to think about backyard toys, food, drinks, and snacks.

By preparing for your backyard campout, you should have everything that you need. Proper planning will also prevent you from having to go inside your home. Avoiding your home as much as possible, even though you are in the backyard, is a great way to make the most out of your backyard camping adventure.

Many people associate camping with the hottest months, but die-hard nature-lovers understand the magic of fall camping. Autumn is the perfect time to wander among the critters as they gather food for winter, to glory in the beauty of the transforming trees, and to curl up beside the campfire with cocoa, s’mores and a scary story.

There are also plenty of practical reasons to go camping in the fall. Temperatures are milder, and you’ll have fewer insects to deal with. As kids head back to school, the number of people visiting State and National Parks drastically declines. Additionally, many parks offer reduced camping fees for fall, which makes this an economical time to head outdoors. You’ll also find it easier to find a quiet, secluded spot at your favorite campgrounds.

Some parks do shut off or reduce their camping services during the off season, so it’s a good idea to check before you go – and it doesn’t hurt to take a gander at the local weather conditions, while you’re at it.

Here are some other things to keep in mind as you consider a fall camping trip:

Less Light in the Day
The days are shorter now, so you’ll need a light source for a longer amount of time than you did in the summer. Make sure you have a long-lasting LED lantern or flashlight. You’ll probably also go through more wood for the campfire, so bring plenty with you or be prepared to purchase extra. Be prepared to go through more cooking fuel as well.

Cooler Days and Nights
Good riddance to waking up in a tent that swelters like a Dutch oven. Thankfully, fall brings milder air.

But remember, cooler days mean cooler nights, and your camping gear needs to reflect this change. Make sure your sleeping bag is temperature-appropriate, because layering extra clothes won’t necessarily make you any warmer. Ideally, you should sleep in a mummy-style bag and wear a hat to bed. It’s also a good idea to use a sleeping pad to insulate you from the chilly ground; a foam pad is more effective than an air mattress for protection from the cold.

Explore New Locations
To take advantage of the best fall camping has to offer, look for a place with plenty of deciduous trees and hiking trails. The mountains, with their clear vistas and ample forests, are breathtaking in the fall, so long as you take care to prepare for the weather conditions.

If you’re looking for a warmer place to camp, keep in mind that temperatures are cooler near the water, so you might want to stay away from rivers, lakes, and streams. On the other hand, fall can be an especially good time for fishing, so anglers may prefer to remain near the water.

Unpredictable Weather
Getting wet puts you at greater risk of hypothermia, so it’s important to pack water-resistant gear and do your best to stay dry. If you’re camping in areas prone to flooding or other extreme weather, make sure you’re familiar with evacuation routes.

Be careful when camping in mountainous regions. By fall, altitudes above 7,000 feet are already receiving snowfall. Getting caught unprepared in the snow can turn a pleasant campout into a life-or-death situation.

Even if your family has old tried and true traditions, everyone needs a little

something new to spice up the holidays. People tend to forget the two most important words in Thanksgiving, THANKS and GIVING. Get the kids in the kitchen, do something bigger than yourself, and truly be thankful for all the many blessings you have in your life. Here are a couple of ideas to help get you started. After all, there is more to Thanksgiving than just football, turkey, and beer – contrary to popular belief.

1. Tasty Treats -

Do you have any leftover candy corn from Halloween? Don’t just throw it away! Make your own mix by adding honey roasted peanuts and Craisins (or any dried) fruit that you enjoy, to create a mouthful of bliss that both the kids and adults will enjoy.

2. Craft Box –

After making the trail mix, you will need something to put it in for all of your guests to bring home after. Mason jars are a very inexpensive and practical way to package the goodies. Have the kids decorate the jars with what they are thankful for. They can write directly on the jar with paint pen, or a drawing on brown paper works excellent as well. These little bursts of inspiration will surely bring out the holiday spirit in the whole family.

3. Give Thanks –

While the lip-smacking food is being served, and the conversation is flowing, have each person go around the table and say what they are thankful for. This might seem routine and maybe even boring, but it is important to count our blessings, especially with the people we love.

4. Give to the community-

Volunteering at a soup kitchen is great, but there are also people that remain on the streets that are hungry as well. As a family, make a couple of sack lunches with the leftover turkey. Hop in the car, turn on some tunes, and feed your community with food and compassion.

What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Many people enjoy camping trips and these can often provide a great opportunity to spend time as a family. They allow you all to relax together and have fun. This is a chance to forget about the stresses and worries that you may associate with your everyday life.

<ins><ins id="google_ads_frame2_anchor"></ins></ins>The approach that you take to such a trip may vary. Some families use them as a means of getting outdoors and being very active. There is no doubt that a camping holiday can provide a great basis for walking, climbing and other outdoor pursuits.

But other families may like to relax in different ways. As such, a holiday of this nature may provide the chance to learn new skills, or simply for you all to relax at the campsite.

It’s well worth thinking in advance about what you want to get from such a trip. Think about the activities that you enjoy and that will prove popular with all family members. By thinking about this in advance, you can plan a holiday that is centred on these activities.

What could be better than a holiday that includes all of the activities that you most enjoy? This is surely the ideal approach and will make for a great family trip. Where possible, you may wish to partake in all of these activities as a family group. For various reasons, this may not always be possible.

The important thing is to tailor the camping trip to meet the requirements of the whole family. By doing so, you will have a lot of fun and be able to create some great holiday memories.

When it comes to planning, don’t forget to think about the pieces of camping equipment and kit that you will require. It’s always wise to buy camping accessories well in advance and you’ll find that some of the very best deals are now available online.

By preparing successfully, you will be able to make sure that you have a great family camping holiday.
